Three of Connecticut’s most innovative manufacturers are supporting our first ever Greater Hartford Mini Maker Faire.
You may have heard that Legrand, Stanely Black & Decker and LEGO Systems are the corporate sponsors for this family-friendly event produced by CBIA on behalf of the Regional Center for Next Generation Manufacturing with funding from the National Science Foundation.
“Maker Faires inspire creativity to turn ideas into reality,” said Greg Kozniewski from Legrand.
“Some of the most important technologies that exist today started with a small idea that was further developed and many became accepted as part of our daily lives. We’re very excited to support that type of thinking in Connecticut.”
Projects so far include 3D printing, robotics, wearable art, radios, mobility resources and many more ingenious inventions.
“We are happy to play a role in bringing the Maker Faire movement to Hartford,” said Tim Perra from Stanley Black & Decker.
“This initiative is inspiring and we’re excited to help encourage the next generation of makers and inventors.”
Many of the exhibits will feature hand-on projects that attendees can participate in.
LEGO Systems will invite attendees of all ages to build a custom LEGO creation and place it within a brick-built map of the state of Connecticut.
“By encouraging Maker Faire attendees to participate in this communal LEGO build, we hope to demonstrate how easy it is to be a maker and to explore their inner inventor all through the hands-on fun of LEGO play,” said Michael McNally of LEGO Systems.
“We’re thrilled to support the community surrounding our company’s U.S. headquarters and the makers of Connecticut with this building experience at the inaugural Greater Hartford Mini Maker Faire.”
